Saturday afternoon

For some reason, I don't have a whole lot to say this Saturday afternoon. Let's see...the sun is shining today, unlike yesterday, which was rainy. Yesterday, I started what I hope to be a daily ritual of writing every day - three pages a day, writing about whatever, based upon an idea by the author Julia Cameron. I started working through her book, The Artist's Way, which was recommended to me by my friend Ashley. Since I started reading the Essential Acker collection, an anthology of writings by the late great Kathy Acker, I've been in a stream-of-consciousness frame of mind. Her writing style is unique, much like with William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, and Jack Kerouac (which have made up my recent reading.)

From book to book, I find myself having to adjust my reading speed to keep up with the understanding and appreciation of each individual author's writing style. I adjusted to Burroughs' writing style quicker than Kathy Acker's style (even though with both I find myself a little bit lost as to what they're writing about). Then again, understanding everything I read the first time around would be boring, at best. And, boredom is my second least favorite feeling for me to have (stupidity being numero uno!)
